Christmas fun at twilight event

Festive: (From left) Mackenzie Cumming, Wilbur Reid and Lexi Cumming embraced the Christmas spirit at the annual Noorat community picnic and the inaugural Noorat Night Market last Friday.

NOORAT was the one-stop-shop for bargains and Christmas fun last Friday evening.

The inaugural Noorat Night Market event welcomed traders from across the south west spruiking their wares, as well as a visit from Santa Claus.

Event organiser Jacinta MacDonald said the evening was a “success” for all involved, including market stallholders, the Mount Noorat Hotel and the Noorat community as a whole.

“The pub did a roaring trade during the night,” she said.

Spoilt for choice: Shoppers flocked to Noorat’s inaugural night market event last Friday.

Mrs MacDonald and her family transformed The Tribunal cafe into ‘Santa’s Cave’, where children could meet Santa and tell him what they wanted for Christmas.

People from the Noorat community and beyond also met at the town’s Christmas tree to enjoy a picnic dinner with friends and family.

Mrs MacDonald said the event’s success was encouraging for the market’s ongoing viability and hoped to hold a similar event next February.

“I think it is definitely something we’d like to hold again,” she said.

Momentous meeting: Noorat’s Noah and Ava Conheady enjoyed a visit to ‘Santa’s Cave’ last week.
