Brighter future for recreation

Shine on: Terang Recreation Reserve committee representative Jane Irving (from left), Rafferty’s Tavern general manager Mark McIlroy, trustee Michael Heffernan, Terang Mortlake Football Netball Club president Jack Kenna and Kiran Maintenance Services’ Scott Narik were excited to see lighting upgrades delivered last week.

THE Bloods were excited to train under new lights after new lighting infrastructure at the Terang Recreation Reserve concluded recently.

The $200,000 project included funding from Corangamite Shire Council ($25,000), the Department of Sport and Recreation ($75,000), the Terang and Mortlake Football Netball Club ($40,000) and $44,000 from Warrnambool’s Rafferty’s Tavern through a 10-year sponsorship deal.

Terang Mortlake Football Netball Club president Jack Kenna said the upgrades would allow for a number of changes across the club.

“Night will become day as far as training goes,” he said.

The four new 30 metre poles would also allow for the possibility of night games to enter the fixture in the future.

Mr Kenna thanked the club and Rafferty’s Tavern for their funding commitments.

“We’re just appreciative of the support we’ve got from the shire,” he said.
