Harness meet lights up Dalvui

Shanway was one of two winners for local trainer Matthew Craven.

TERANG Harness Racing Club hosted its first event of the calendar year last Wednesday night.

Dalvui Raceway came to life for an eight race program, as two favourites opened proceedings with victories.

It was a Terang trifecta in the opening heat of the Reid Stockfeeds Pace, as the Matthew Craven trained and driven Shanway saluted ahead of Margaret Lee’s Jilliby Tango and Jilliby Navajo, driven respectively by Jason Lee and Glen Craven.

Kerryn Manning guided Rupert Of Lincoln to a narrow victory in the Morsbearings Pace.

A pair of rank outsiders tasted success in the two trotting events slated on the night’s card.

Someones Singing, for trainer Phillip Giles and driver Tina Ridis, won the Directwear Workwear Trotters Handicap by five and a half lengths from Courtney Slater’s firm pre-race favourite Fremarksrooster, driven by Glen Craven, while another local runner Flippin Issy rounded out the placings
