The club has provided an opportunity for social connection and civic mindedness for anywhere up to 150 members over the past two decades.

There has been no shortage of adventure for the club’s members who have regularly enjoyed outings, visits from guest speakers and morning teas together at monthly meetings.

Terang and District Probus Club secretary Gerdy McCormack said she believed the 20-year milestone celebration was an important moment for those who had paved the way.

“I think it’s very exciting, especially for our foundation members and all they have done for the club,” she said.

Terang and District Probus Club president Anne Gready, who was welcomed to the leadership role last month, said she believed the milestone was a “fantastic” moment for the club and its members.

“There are so many members who were around originally, I believe there were over 140 who started, and we’ve got many of those members still here,” she said.

“Given the ages they are now, it’s wonderful to have so many still active with Probus.”

Treasurer Frank Riordan, who was among the founding members of the Terang and District Probus Club, said he held fond members of his time with the club.

“I’ve been very pleased to be a member,” he said.

“I was a Rotarian at the time the Probus Club was founded, and they were instrumental in the creation of the club.

“We’ve had a lot of very good trips and very good members over the years.

“To look back on the past 20 years, with 27 original members still in our club, is wonderful.”

The Terang and District Probus Club will celebrate its 20-year milestone at the club’s May 6 meeting.

Invitations have been sent out to around 50 of the original members, with The Little Acorn Café preparing a cake to celebrate the milestone.

Current and past members are expected to reflect on all that has been accomplished together.

“We want members to talk about their memories of the past and celebrate all the important things that have happened,” Ms Gready said.

“As a new person in the club and in the district, I think that’s fantastic to hear all of those stories and reminisce about all the wonderful times they have had.”
