Mortlake’s Pippa Barr has qualified in two events for the state swimming championships in April.

Fourteen year-old Pippa, a year nine student at Mercy Regional College, put in a huge performance at the recent Greater Western Regional swimming championships in Horsham, bringing home a swag of medals.

She finished first in the back stroke and breastroke and second in the freestyle relay events – qualifying her to compete in the state swimming championships in April.

According to proud mum Brianna, Pippa trains four times a week with the Warrnambool Swimming Club.

“Most of Pip’s training sessions are early mornings before school,” she said.

“She’s very excited to be heading to the state titles.”

The Greater Western regionals proved a successful meet for the Barr family, with Mason finishing second in the freestyle relay while younger sister Imogen finished second in breaststroke and third in the relay.
