A fun way to start the holidays
FAMILIES looking for a fun way to kick off the Easter school holidays are invited to visit Apex Park in Camperdown for a day of family-friendly fun.
The Camperdown and District Community House is hosting its sixth annual Family Fun Day next Thursday (April 10), bringing a day of free fun for all ages from 10am-2pm.
Community House coordinator Emily Mercer said the event will see some new features alongside outdoor games and craft activities.
“We have face painting this year, which is a new thing,” she said.
“The Lions Club (of Camperdown) will be doing a fundraiser barbecue this year, which is great – this is the first year they have been involved.
“We’ve had Camperdown Rotary Club involved in the past.”
The Lions Club will be firing up the barbecue from 11.30am, with residents encouraged to bring along barbecue and picnic supplies to enjoy the day.
Raffle tickets will also be on sale for the Camperdown and District Community House fundraising raffle on the day.
Ms Mercer encouraged anyone seeking to help out on the day to put their hands up, thanking those who have already helped to prepare and plan the day.
“I would always welcome extra hands to help out on the day if people want to come down and help out,” she said.
“We won’t turn people away.
“We do have a full set of volunteers already teed up and ready to go, but more hands-on deck is always helpful, especially if there’s going to be a big group.”
Ms Mercer said the Family Fun Day provided a way to celebrate the community spaces available to residents of Camperdown.
“We’re so lucky to have so many amazing spaces, and we think Apex Park is one of them and it often gets underutilised,” she said
“Having our annual Family Fun Day in the park is a celebration of the park and how amazing it is for our community to have access to green spaces and come together and have fun.”
