Auxiliary raises $3000 for hospital
LAST week’s A Spring Catalogue saw strong support from Camperdown and afar, with many packing the St Paul’s Church hall last Friday for the opening night.

This year’s event raised around $3000 for the Camperdown Hospital Auxiliary, with 24 of the 50 displayed artworks sold over the three-day event.
Auxiliary president Ian Currell said the sale of close to half of the works was a fantastic clearance.
“It was a vibrant opening to the evening which resulted in strong sales,” he said.
“The two auction pieces – with one being donated by Doug Kane and the other one being donated by a long-term supporter of the art show – raised a total of $360.
“People travelled from Ballarat, Geelong and Port Campbell because of the quality of the show.
“The two dealers supplied Australian collectable art for the show and it’s a nice alternate community event.”
This year’s guest speaker was art dealer Andrew Miller, who paid tribute to A Spring Catalogue founder David Bradshaw.

“Andrew spoke about how David started the art show 48 years ago and was the driving force for the show for a very long time,” Mr Currell said.
“He only stopped participating a few years ago, which is more than 40 years’ service to the community with the art show.”
The tribute also included a memorial board of Mr Bradshaw, featuring a variety of photos and newspaper articles including photos of him receiving the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 2009.
In addition to his OAM, Mr Bradshaw also was awarded Life Governorship with Camperdown Hospital, a Cooinda Service Award, a Paul Harris International Award with Grovedale Rotary Club, a Cancer Council Service Award and a Federal Government Volunteers Services Award.
Mr Currell said all money raised through the art show goes back to the Camperdown Hospital, with the most recent donation being $18,400 towards the furnishing of two rooms in the newly-opened Leura Lodge last year.
“It’s not until people need to use the hospital that they see where our proceeds go and how they are used,” he said.
“I’d like to thank all the Auxiliary members and their families for all the help they gave setting up the art show and supplying fantastic food for all the attendees.
“Since the art show, a couple who came to the art show was really impressed with what we do and expressed interest in joining the Auxiliary.
“It’s a wonderful feeling to have new members join to help us do our community work.”
