Terang College foundation students this week donned their finest centenarian costumes to celebrate their first 100 days of school.

Terang College foundation teacher Kaitlyn Lee said the day marked a significant milestone for the students.

“They have been tracking their days since the start of the year,” she said.

“They’re going to be having an assembly and doing an assembly report to show some of the things they’ve learnt in their 100 days of school, doing a bit of writing and doing a parade as well.”

Mrs Lee said the first 100 days of education were busy as the students settled in to primary education.

“They’ve learnt to read, write and they’re even writing stories and persuasive pieces,” she said.

“They’ve learnt to count, write numbers, identify shapes, count money and follow patterns.

“On top of that they’re learning their specialist subjects such as how to speak Spanish or about different artists.

“There is such a wide range of things they’ve been able to learn about.”

Mrs Lee said, in addition to the educational development, the students had formed new friendships and displayed their willingness to support their fellow students.

“I think it’s really special having a smaller class,” she said.

“The kids get to know each other really well.

“They spend every day together so they look after each other and get really good at making sure each other is okay and following our school values.”
