Camperdown Magpies flying high
CAMPERDOWN Magpies Bowling Club’s division one pennant team continued its winning way last Saturday.
The side celebrated a commanding 69 shot, all-rinks win over Colac Central, 133-64.
Brad Errock’s rink of Jamie Norton, Darren Coverdale and Taj Merrett had another big win over Ian Johnson’s rink 34-12.
Craig Skene’s rink of Barry Atchison, Kell Edwards and Jack Paasse won against Ron Chapman’s rink 39-19.
Luke Wright’s rink of David Bateman, Len Searle and James Henry finished off the day with a 28-13 win over Brian Finn’s rink.
Tomorrow the Magpies travel to Colac to take on Colac City who suffered its first defeat of the season last Saturday – an interesting game is expected.
Division one teams for tomorrow at Colac City:
Luke Wright (s), David Bateman, Len Searle and James Henry.
Matty Brewer (s), Chris Pearson, Barry Atchison and Jack Paasse.
Craig Skene (s), Ron Cameron, Kel Rundle and Greg Teal.

David Bateman is the manager and the bus (driver TBD) will leave at 11am.
In the battle of the Magpies in division two, it was the Magpies two team that came out on top with a 104-78 win.
Fred Salmon’s rink of Kevin Russell, Kerry Henderson and Greg Edwards had a 20 shot win over Graeme Chamberlain’s rink 36-16.
Michael Brebner’s rink of Vicki Brebner, John O’Donohue and Brad Wilson defeated CHirs McLeod’s rink 28-15.
Paul Richard’s rink of John Molan, Keira Johnston and Noelene Tolland defeated Henry Henderson’s rink 23-19.
Andrew Anderson’s rink of Les Pearson, Greg Molan and Ron Simcox went down to Stan Adeney’s rink, 17-28.
Tomorrow the undefeated division two (2) team travel to take on Colac 2 while division two (3) will head to Apollo Bay and hopefully come home with their first win of the season.

Daryl O’Donohue is the manager and Stan Adeney will drive the bus, leaving at 9.15am.
The Magpies division three team was at home to Simpson and unfortunately went down to the Tigers, 84-95.
Paul Brebner’s rink of Janet Molan, Max Rippon and Keith Batemen went down to Andrea Swayn’s rink 16-32.
Darren Paige’s rink of Steve Lucas, Brent Noon and Pip Robertson lost to Maria Seabrook’s rink 19-33.
Ron Absalom’s rink of John Salau, Rene Wyles and Gerard Broderick had a good win over Ron Yendall’s rink, 31-11.
Tom Hose’s rink of Paul Halloran, Deb Noonan and Donna Watts had a close one, defeated by Bryson Newcombe’s rink 18-19.
Tomorrow division three travel to Lorne and a win is a must to keep them in touch of the top four.

The Magpies division four team travelled to Cressy and was defeated 53-72.
Carol Wilson’s rink of Kathy Banks, Pat Scott and Andrew Whiteside lost to George Bath's rink 17-23.
Gary Mitchell’s rink of Jimmy Boyd, Caroline Strampel and Val Coverdale lost to Steven Turner’s rink 13-27.
Gordon Weller’s rink of Norma Weller, Ruth Skene and Ton Vermaas saved the day with a one shot win over Carol Bath’s rink, 23-22.
Tomorrow division four travel to Derrinallum and will hopefully bring home their first win of the season.

Gary Mitchell (s), Kerry Henderson, Caroline Strampel and Keith Bateman.

Carol Wilson is the manager and the bus, driven by Gary Mitchell, will leave at 11.45am.
In division one midweek last Tuesday, the Magpies were home to Winchelsea in the battle for top spot on the ladder.
Unfortunately the Magpies could not get over the line, going down 64-73.
Peter Reilly’s rink of Barry Atchison, Vicki Brebner and Kell Edwards had a good day, defeating Pip Ward’s rink 25-22.
Craig Skene’s rink of Fred Salmon, John O’Donohue and Ron Simcox had a good battle with Rhys Jeff’s rink before going down 24-31.
Maria Van Someren’s rink of Len Searle, Ron Cameron and Greg Edwards also had a good battle with Ray Thompson’s rink, losing 15-20.
Next Tuesday the Magpies will travel to take on Colac 1 who sit one point ahead on the ladder so a win would give the Magpies some breathing space in the top four.

Division two travelled to Derrinallum and came home with a good win, 95-65.
Henry Henderson’s rink of Brad Wilson, Pat Atchison and Les Pearson defeated Adrian McKenzie’s rink 36-27.
Stan Adeney’s rink of Janet Molan, Kerry Henderson and Noelene Tolland had the close one with a draw with John Trotter’s rink 24-all.
Barb Boyd’s rink of Tim Spokes, Wayne Henry and Elaine Waterfall had a big win over Jane French’s rink 35-14.
The win sees the Magpies climb into fourth spot on the ladder and next Tuesday they take on third placed Colac 3 on the Golf Green so a win would see them climb to at least third.

In division three the Magpies were at home on the Golf Green to Colac Central 2 and after an enthralling battle they came away with a 58-50 win.
Peter James’ rink of Gordon Weller, Val Coverdale and Deb Noonan went down to Joan Walter’s rink 17-24.
Norma Weller’s rink of Donna Watts, Pat Scott and Ray Bourke were the stars of the day with a 25-11 win over Bernie Tucker’s rink.
Marg Stephens’ rink of Paul Brebner, Ruth Skene and Kathy Banks had a close one with a tie with Edward Iverme’s rink 16-all.
The win sees division three climb to second on the ladder and they can consolidate second spot next Tuesday when they travel to take on Winchelsea who currently sit in top position.
