Carmody leads championship
LAST week saw the first round of the ladies’ championship at the Terang Golf Club.
The ladies also competed in a monthly medal event and putting competition.
The A grade winner was Judy Carmody on 88-18-70 followed by Margie Driscoll 94-20-74.
B grade was won by Janet Saunders 99-28-71, with Wendy O’Connor the runner-up on 105-31-72.
Balls down the line went to Aileen Clarke 100-27-73, Dianne Glennon 109-36-73, Elaine Hrabar 102-28-74 and Jane Heffernan 105-31-74.
Nearest the pins: 3rd Dianne Glennon, 9th from off the green Wendy O’Connor and 11th Janet Saunders.
The winner of the putting was Karen Mather with 28 putts while the monthly medal winner was Judy Carmody.
The top five players after round one of championships:
A grade – Judy Carmody 88, Sharee Scanlon 90, Cate Glennon 93, Heather Holmes 93 and Cate Cornelissen 93.
B grade – Margie Driscoll 94, Janet Saunders 99, Aileen Clarke 100, Elaine Hrabar 102 and Jo Arundell 102.
C grade (stableford) – Wendy O’Connor 36 points, Dianne Glennon 35, Jane Heffernan 34, Maureen Bond 32 and Linda Kenna 32.
The winner of the 18 hole all-day stableford was Josh Brown on 39 points, followed by Riley Scanlon on 37.
Balls down the line went to Fred Beasley 36, Brad Lucas 36, Peter Hrabar 35 and Ethan Wyss 35.
Nearest the pins: 3rd Peter Hrabar, 6th Ross Thomson and 11th Bernie Kenna.
The winner of the nine hole stableford was Glenice Justin with 13 points.
This week will be an all day 18 and nine holestablefords, and the second round of the ladies’ championship.
