The night’s racing was sponsored by Benallacks.

A sponsorship race always lifts the spirit of the riders and there were many several determined riders in attendance.

The junior race winner was Bentley who crossed the line first in the winning time of 11.40.

Second over the line was Taj, a newcomer to the sport, who also set a new personal best of 12.15.

Third was the very in-form Bede with his time of 14.32.

Other riders’ times on the night in place order were Henry 13.05, Lawson 12.47 and Archie 15.25.

Josh was fastest rider on the night with a time of 09.39, Nathaniel 11.14 and Finny completed the course with a time of 18.18.

All placegetters received a gift voucher from the sports store.

There were nine participants in last Thursday’s senior race at the Camperdown Cycling Club, which was also sponsored by Benallacks Camperdown.

There was a moderate south-westerly wind which caused a headwind at the abattoirs corner and a fast finish.

Zane Vogels rode off limit with a minute and a half gap to Matt Clark, also riding solo.

Josh Thompson, Finn Baxter and Matty G chased 1:30 behind Matt, with a two-minute gap back to Oliver Clark.

Shaun Thompson and Todd Baxter rode off scratch.

Josh and Finn were caught by Oliver from behind at Chocolyn and this group worked together to eventually catch Matt and Zane.

As the pace sped up, Matt Clark was dropped off the back of the group.

With the remaining riders starting to play cat and mouse, scratch closed in from behind to catch the bunch at Pasques corner.

Finn tried to attack early up the hill on the finishing straight, but Todd prevented a gap from opening up on the front of the bunch.

With Todd, Oliver, Josh and Matty G fighting for a place on the podium at the front, Shaun put in an impressive sprint and passed them on the inside to claim first place.

Oliver followed in second place and Matty G came in third.

Josh finished fourth, followed by Todd, Finn, and the epic Zane Vogels finishing ahead of Matt to pass on the wooden spoon.

The first three places were awarded vouchers to spend at Benallacks.
