Dancing away the morning

MELODIES echoed throughout the Terang Returned and Services League (RSL) hall on Monday as a full house enjoyed music and connection.

Morning Melodies, hosted on the fourth Monday of each month as a fundraiser for the Terang RSL sub-branch, drew a capacity crowd.

Terang RSL president Dianne Meade said this week’s event saw a strong turnout with widespread audience participation, great conversation and captivating music.

“It’s a great turnout with around 90 in attendance,” she said.

“We’ve had a great start to the year with great atmosphere and a great clientele coming back to support us.

“We couldn’t ask for anything more – it’s been lovely.

“We’ve got different artists coming back each month, with Judy Walters organising that – she’s doing such a fantastic job bringing in artists.

“We’ve also got one of our own members doing a sing-along just after interval, which gets the crowd involved, while some of our other members are quite handy on instruments too, so they’re doing a good job.”

The Terang RSL has attempted to shake things up this year with a change in time and an ever-changing line-up for musicians in a bid to keep things fresh.

“We’ve had a different time set – still starting at 10am, but now we finish at 12noon,” Mrs Meade said.

“It makes it so much easier for people if they need to go to appointments or lunch meetings.

“We found people had previously been leaving a little before midday so it’s better for us.”

Mrs Meade said all were welcome to attend Morning Melodies on the fourth Monday of each month, with all funds raised helping the RSL in its efforts to support veterans and preserve the town’s military and service history.

“Come along and support us,” she said.

“You get well looked after, we supply tea and coffee with biscuits.

“There’s a raffle with a hamper sponsored by the Terang Co-op each month, and there can be up to ten raffles each time.”
