Camperdown Quality Meats was awarded the Best Butchers Beef Burger as part of the Australian Meat Industry Council (AMIC) Sausage King competition recently.

The competition splits the state into six regions, with the winners from each region eligible for the state title which was held over the weekend.

Business owner Ashley Stephenson said it was the beef brisket burger which won the award out of the sausages and burgers sent off for the competition.

“We got to the state titles on the weekend, which was a gala dinner,” he said.

“We got to rub shoulders with some of the best butchers in the state, but unfortunately, we didn’t place in them.

“It’s rather humbling to receive such an award.

“There’s a lot of great butchers around and for us to be rubbing shoulders with some of the best is pretty good.

“It was really good to have a few conversations with like-minded people, so we got a few different ideas from them.”

Mr Stephenson said he was pleased with the efforts from his team.

“I’d like to thank my staff – they are the main reason we keep on producing good quality products – and thanks to all the customers who keep coming in,” he said.
