Finals campaign continues for Demons
ROUND one of the Warrnambool and District League finals produced some mixed results for the Timboon Demons.

The Demons’ reserve and under 18 football sides both contested elimination finals last Sunday (and the under 13 footballers played their qualifying final on Saturday), while on the netball courts the club was well represented during Saturday’s qualifying rounds with two junior sides competing.
Last Sunday’s reserves football elimination final saw the Demons progress to this weekend’s first semi-final thanks to a well-fought five point win over Merrivale at Mack Oval.
Final scores were Timboon 9.5.59 to Merrivale 8.6.54.
Thomas Hunt booted three goals for the Demons while Ned Deppeler added two.
Among the best for the side were Mitchell Gristede, Jack Matthews, Ben Matthews, Darcy Bridgewater, Henry Stansfield and Eddie Gaut.
The Demons will now face Nirranda at Allansford Recreation Reserve from 12.40pm this Sunday.
And in the under 18s elimination last weekend, Timboon 12.6.78 defeated Allansford 2.3.15.
Best for the Demons were Tommy Illingworth, Jasper Makin, Leroy Steere, Jhyce Bartlett, Rory Roberts and Joshua McKenzie.
Goals went to Toby Gale and Tommy Illingworth (three each), Leroy Steere (2) and singles to Jalen Berry, Caius Cuthell, Joshua McKenzie and Max Rantall.
The Demons will play Kolora Noorat in this Sunday’s semi-final, starting at 11am.
In the 13 and football qualifying final, Timboon 3.5.23 defeated South Rovers 1.0.6.
Goal kickers were Jed Watson (2) and William Spokes (1) while among the best players were Watson, Kaspa Hendrix, Zane Schawalder, Dane Nicholls, Riley Stephens and Ruben Harris.
The team will now play Russells Creek this Saturday at Davidson Oval, starting at 8.45am.

Timboon’s 17 and under netballers were defeated by Allansford 37-23 in Saturday’s qualifier and will now face Russells Creek in this Sunday’s semi-final at Allansford.
The game will start at 10.40am.
Best for the Demons last weekend were Ruby Jones, Holly Delaney and Oliva Benson.
In the 15 and under qualifying match, Timboon lost to Old Collegians 19-22.
Best for the Demons were Asha Loughnan, Taya Hanegraaf and Ellen Whiting.
The team will play Kolora Noorat this Sunday, starting at 9.40am.
