Free concert to show appreciation
A COMMUNITY group formed to support the recovery of the arts following the St Patrick’s Day Bushfires will host a free concert this month to show appreciation for the community.

Terang Noorat Arts in The Avenue (TNAA) will be hosting a free concert when the Australian Chamber Choir (ACC) returns to delight audiences at the Terang Presbyterian Church on Saturday, November 29 from 3pm.
TNAA committee member and concert convenor Marion Craven said the free concert was a way to extend gratitude to the community for the support the committee had received over the years.
“The committee has been delighted with the tremendous response to all the events that they have supported and, as a gesture of thanks, have decided to offer free admission to the Australian Chamber Choir’s ‘Baroque Christmas 2025’ concert,” she said.
“The inception of the TNAA came about when Corangamite Shire, in an attempt to bolster the morale of the district following the devastating fires in 2018, allocated funds in 2019 to encourage arts activities across the Noorat and Terang areas.
“Over the last six years the committee has financially supported, among other events, the ACC concerts in Terang.”
Mrs Craven said she had been delighted with the support of the TNAA committee and audiences.
She also acknowledged the support of the Terang Rotary Club and the A.L. Lane Foundation.
“Over the years more than 900 people have supported the concerts, many returning time and again,” Mrs Cravensaid.
“Visitors have travelled from as far afield as Ararat and beyond, Geelong and Portland.
“For some, it was their introduction to the delights of a capella singing.”
Mrs Craven said the last Barouqe Christmas program has been described as an example of the ACC being at the top of its game.
“This year’s program demonstrates how composers through the ages have written some of their liveliest music for the Christmas season. Marking the anniversary of the death of Michael Leunig in December 2024, the program includes three of his short Christmas poems set to music by Christopher Willcock,” she said.
“In this and other works on the program, the choir is accompanied by Katia Mestrovic on the harp.
“In addition, the program includes well-known Christmas tunes such as In dulci Jubilo, by JS Bach, Resonet in Laudibus and Es ist ein Ros entsprungen by Michael Praetorius.
“Please tell everyone you know to come along to this free concert.
“Following the concert, light refreshments will be served in the church hall where you will have the opportunity to meet members of the choir, directors and harpist.”
