Frogs celebrate second win

ECKLIN registered a second win of the season in the Colac-South West premier cricket competition with an impressive six wicket victory over Camperdown.

The Lakers batted first in the round six match at SA Wright Oval and were all out in the 23rd over for just 98.

Camperdown was in a decent position at 3/87 before losing seven for 11, with English duo Harry Bee and Harry Carter ripping through the Lakers middle and lower order with three wickets each.

Bee finished with 3/28 from 7.5 overs, with Carter taking 3/14 from four.

Earlier, new ball bowler Aaron Harding claimed the wickets of both Camperdown openers.

The Frogs comfortably passed the Camperdown total in the 23rd over for the loss of four wickets.

Tyson Royal returned to the Ecklin line-up for the first time this season and made an innings high 50 from 55 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes.

This week the Frogs host Irrewarra at Ecklin.

Ecklin’s division two team had an eight wicket loss to Bookaar at Frederick St.

Batting first, the Frogs were all out for 159, with Neil Gowland top scoring with an unbeaten 37 from 32 balls batting at number 10.

Bookaar passed the score in the 30th over for the loss of just two wickets.

This week Ecklin play Boorcan at Boorcan in division two.

In division three, Ecklin had a four wicket loss to Cobden at the Timboon High School.

Murray Ellerton top scored with 65 from 105 balls in the Frog’s total of 8/138.

Cobden passed the score six wickets down in the 29th over, with Tim Gubbins taking two wickets for Ecklin.

Ecklin’s women had a loss to Cobden Gold last Wednesday in their match at South Purrumbete.

Batting first, Ecklin made 1/110, led by 33 retired from 39 balls to Kelly Gowland and 30 retired from 37 balls to Rachel O'Keeffe.

Cobden Gold replied with 1/120, with Danae Fraser taking the sole wicket.

In tonight’s match, Ecklin host Nirranda at Ecklin.

This week Ecklin host Pomborneit Gold at Terang number two oval.
