Funds flow for local causes
ACCIONA Energía has awarded $63,000 in funding to 19 local organisations as part of its 2026 Mortlake South Wind Farm Small Grants Program, supporting a diverse range of community initiatives across Moyne and Corangamite Shires.
The program attracted 31 applications this year, highlighting the strength and vibrancy of community-led projects in the region.
Following a competitive assessment process, funding was awarded to initiatives spanning community events, infrastructure upgrades, emergency services support, education and wellbeing programs.
Funded projects include upgrades to local sporting and recreation facilities, support for emergency services training, mental health awareness initiatives, education programs for young drivers and community events such as the Colour Terang Festival and local Christmas celebrations.
This year’s recipients include organisations such as Mortlake Kindergarten, Terang Harness Racing Club, Mortlake Men’s Shed, the Victoria State Emergency Service Mortlake Unit, Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria and the School for Student Leadership – Gnurad-Gundidj Campus.
“We understand the community around our Mortlake South Wind Farm expect to experience the benefits of hosting renewable energy projects and these grants are just one way in which ACCIONA Energía supports our local region,” ACCIONA Energía community benefits lead Renee Mooney said.
“Many local organisations, like emergency services, sporting clubs and schools, play a critical role in the community and our small grants program provides funding to help ensure their efforts can continue to make a real difference.
“We were delighted to be able to support so many worthy initiatives again this year.”
Applications for the 2027 program are expected to open between February and March next year.
