Polwarth is the electorate with the highest Greens vote outside of metropolitan Melbourne, and in 2022 the Greens recorded a six per cent positive swing.

With a background in environmental education, climate and biodiversity program management and environmental and social governance, Mr Holden currently works in a conservation and land care engagement role with one of Australia’s leading conservation organisations.

He said he has previously worked in climate, nature-based and adventure tourism roles on a national, state and local level, having spent a number of years focused specifically across the Surf Coast and Otways region.

“I’m a Surf Coast local, environmentalist and climate advocate, running to make Polwarth a place where both people and the planet can thrive,” Mr Holden said.

“From Torquay to the Otways and our hinterland, our communities face rising seas, extreme weather, and housing pressures.

“Luckily, we know the solutions to all these issues – the only thing this region and community needs now is the political will to act.

“I’m committed to pushing for action on housing, cost of living, protecting our coasts, waters and forests, and creating a sustainable future that builds and supports our region.”

Over summer, Mr Holden will be conducting a community survey to help understand the local and state issues most important to the diverse communities of Polwarth.

The survey will be appearing in letterboxes, newspaper ads and online.

“I’ve spent my career connecting people, communities and governments to deliver real-world climate and biodiversity solutions,” Mr Holden said.

“I want to hear from farmers, families, young people, retirees and business owners alike, making sure every voice counts, is included and respected.

“Together, through positive action, we can create a Polwarth that’s resilient, fair and thriving for generations to come.”

Polwarth community members will also have an opportunity to meet Mr Holden at community events held throughout the electorate in 2026.
