The Community Bank donated $5000 to the Girl Guides to fund the installation of a new air conditioning system and new signage for the building.

Camperdown Girl Guides leader Glenda McIlveen said the donation will help with being able to hire out the guide hall on top of guides activities.

“With that money, we bought the air conditioner and we did new signs on the building, which will help with the hiring of the building, and we got all the cement water-blasted, so it comes up nice and fresh,” she said.

“The hall was very old, so it would make it more enjoyable for the guides because, with the heating and cooling, things will be much easier.”

The new signs were installed recently on the building, with the air conditioning in the hall a big hit at the Community Bank’s $1m celebration last Saturday.

Mrs McIlveen said the guides are planning to do more fundraising into the future for other ideas to improve the hall.

“Being able to get sponsored by Community Bank means we can do those things without having to go into the community to fundraise, because it takes a lot for small families to fundraise to keep a building going,” she said.

Mrs McIlveen said the guides have some

limited positions open for this year, with pamphlets handed out to interested families on Saturday.

“We still have some positions in Girl Guides for any young girls who would like to join,” she said.

“Ages are between seven and 12, and they can contact me on my mobile number 0438 090 906 or my home phone 5593 2917.”
