Half century for Constable

LISMORE had a five wicket loss to Lexton in round nine of the Grenville Cricket Association on Saturday.

Batting first at the Lexton Recreation Reserve, Lismore was all out for 148 in the 40th over.

“We were pretty happy with our start, getting to 1/100 after winning the toss,” Lismore captain Clint Dudman said.

“Unfortunately, we couldn’t capitalise as we lost wickets in clumps through our middle and lower order.”

Opener Lachie Constable top scored with 56 from 63 balls, hitting five fours and a six.

“Lachie batted really well, it was probably the most patient I’ve seen him bat.

“He got us through the first 20 overs, unfortunately we couldn’t capitilise on that.”

Lexton put together solid partnerships all the way through in reply but still took until the 39th over to pass Lismore’s score.

“We bowled extremely well right throughout.

“To keep them from reaching our score until the second last over was a real credit to our bowlers.”

Dudman felt a few more runs on the board could have got the job done.

“Par was probably around 180 and that was a score very much achievable after the start we got.”

This week Lismore face Linton at the Lismore Recreation Reserve.

“We need to start stringing together a few wins now we are two wins out of the four.

“We’ve got most of our players back from harvest now so the next few weeks are important.”

No play was possible in the under 16 game between Lismore and Linton at Lismore on Saturday morning due to rain.

This week the Lismore under 16s host Rokewood at Lismore.

In the under 12s, Lismore had a 40 run loss to Derrinallum at Derrinallum on Friday night.

Matthew Wylie top scored with five as Lismore made 75 batting first.

Derrinallum replied with 115, with Josh McConachy, Matthew Wylie, Corey Smith, Cooper Rumler and Andrew Wylie taking a wicket each.

Tonight the Lismore under 12s play Linton at Lismore.
