Host a movie night to raise funds

CORANGAMITE Shire Council’s mobile cinema could be just the ticket for community groups looking to raise funds.

Acting director sustainable development Katy McMahon said the program was now available to help local groups raise funds and build social connections.

“A movie night is a great opportunity to get everyone together and can raise funds for your sporting club, charity or any other cause,” she said.

“Showing movies in our local venues brings people together, especially in farming communities.

“When times are tough, it can give everyone a reason to get out of the house, unwind and enjoy a bit of a light-hearted escape.”

Ms McMahon said the films available for screening through the mobile cinema varied but felt there was a wide range of options to suit any occasion.

“It’s not about the film – it’s about the connections,” she said.

“The movie’s distributor will charge between $190 and $350 for screening rights, which will be payable by the community group.

“Corangamite Film Society volunteers attend indoor or outdoor venues across the shire and run the movie of your choice on council’s equipment, so there’s no other cost.

“Give us a call and we can help you choose a movie and secure screening rights on your group’s behalf.”
