With the help of friend Rosie Hodgson, Ms Moor is looking to create a group which can lead activities and organise transport and bookings for the outings.

She said the idea came from her and Ms Hodgson’s experiences with teenage children in the Camperdown area.

“There’s nothing for the kids to do in town, so I thought about getting a group together – if they want to do something outside of Camperdown, we can organise the transport,” Ms Moor said.

“We can get them there – whether it’s bowling, the movies or anything like that.

“We can organise transport for them and bring them back home so we know they’re safe.

“Kids aren’t being social anymore – there are a lot of kids around town who are all teenagers who are not socialising.”

The group, which Ms Moor is hoping to be free to join, aims to encourage teenagers to build friendships while doing things together.

She said she wanted to give local teens the same opportunity she had when she was younger – where teens got out together often without the pull of video games or social media.

“I wanted to see how many people we got first to find out how I was going to set it up,” Ms Moor said.

“We’ve put the feelers out to see how many kids are interested, then I would go to the council and say, ‘this is what we’re planning on doing, how do we go about doing this?’

“I’ll even be putting the feelers out to people who have got a minibus – my partner’s got his bus licence, so he can drive – depending on how many kids I get is how the transport will work.

“When I know I’ve got how many kids I’ve got, I’ll put the feelers out how I can get the transport.

“Even if it’s on public transport, we’ll go with them so we know they’re safe.”

Teens who are interested in becoming part of the group are encouraged to contact Ms Moor via email at melmoor72@gmail.com.

Ms Moor encouraged teenagers to reach out, saying the group was open for ideas on activities.

“The more the merrier – there’s just not many people who have been interested so far,” she said.

“We’re coming into nice weather soon, hopefully.

“Even if we go to the beach one day – whatever the kids want to do, we’ll organise the transport and everything like that.”
