Junior cyclists face strong winds
BIG winds blew strong during race six of the summer series for Camperdown cyclists.

The brave took to the line and moved through the course with some solid performances, but unfortunately no personal bests were able to be celebrated last week.
It was the scratchman Josh who came over the line with a winning time of 9.53.
Second over the line was Nathaniel with a time of 11.27 and in third place was Ava 12.03 with a stellar ride, showing that the club’s older riders work hard at the back of the race and push to their limits to get across the line.
Other riders’ times were Taj 13.05, Lawson 13.08, Eleanor 20.23 and Henry 13.24.
The two youngest riders pushed themselves to the limit at the end, with Archie and Bede finishing with a time of 15.18 - bringing great excitement to the end of the race.
A strong westerly wind made for a difficult race for the seniors last Thursday.
There were nine starters, with Zane Vogels and Shannon Bell starting off limit together.
Matt Clark started 30 seconds later, and Tanya McKenzie chased another 30 seconds behind.
Josh Thompson and Finn Baxter left another two minutes back.
Another solo rider, Oliver Clark, chased one minute behind and Shaun Thompson and Todd Baxter rode off scratch 1.30 seconds later.
Tanya and Matt came together with Zane and Shannon at the Chocolyn bridge and worked together, pulling turns.
Further behind, Oliver put in an effort to catch Josh and Finn soon after the Chocolyn corner.
This bunch was caught by scratch at the racecourse corner and caught up to Zane soon after (who had waited for a car).

With Tanya and Shannon together at the front of the race, and Matt being left behind, Todd and Shaun brought up the pace down the racecourse straight, dropping Finn and then Zane off the back before catching Matt.
Tanya rode away from Shannon (at Pasques corner) to her first victory at Camperdown, with Todd, Oliver and Shaun passing Shannon up the finishing hill.
Shaun jumped away at the finish to claim second place and fastest time, followed by Oliver in third and Todd sitting up to claim fourth.
Shannon came fifth, holding off Josh who finished sixth.
Finn managed to catch up to the giant Zane Vogels before the line and pass on the wooden spoon at the back of the race.
