Juniors celebrate first win
BOOKAAR’S under 16 cricketers have celebrated their first win of the 2025/26 season.
The team put in a great effort to defeat Cobden in their round five match-up.
After winning the toss, Bookaar batted first, with openers Arlo Herry and Xander Kent getting the team off to a good start with a partnership of 62.
Herry fell first for 29, with Kent dismissed not long after for 25.
Jimmy Cheeseman went in at number three and made 28 not out to help Bookaar to a score of 6/115 off its 35 overs.
In reply, Cobden lost some early wickets to be 4/29, but fought back to get within range of the total.
Bookaar was able to get regular wickets, bowling out Cobden for 99 and earning a 16 run win.
The wickets were shared between seven bowlers, showing a very even bowling performance.
The result was a big confidence booster and a huge turnaround from the round two encounter when Cobden defeated Bookaar by 129 runs.
