Kavanagh wins at Terang

ANTHONY Kavanagh has taken out the monthly medal at the Terang Golf Club.


Last Saturday saw a field of 38 players compete for the stroke/monthly medal and putting.

Kavanagh finished on nett 71 (gross 82) to win A grade from runner-up George Beasley (scratch) 72/72 on countback.

B grade was won by Michelle Beasley (16) 75/91 from Gary Huebner (21) 75/96.

Down the line: Mark Couzens (2) 72/74, Max Kavanagh (11) 73/84, Neale Grundy (11) 74/85, Anthony Mills (11) 74/85, Fred Beasley (+3) 76/73.

Nearest the pins: 3rd Mark Couzens, 6th Anthony Mills, 8th Max Kavanagh and 11th Mick Scanlon.

Putting was won by Riley Scanlon with 25 putts.

As a result of their top eight finish on Saturday, the following players have qualified for the Geoff Kenna Handicap match play knock-out tournament.

Players will have three weeks to complete their first round match – Anthony Kavanagh v Fred Beasley, George Beasley v Gary Huebner, Mark Couzens v Anthony Mills, Max Kavanagh v Neale Grundy.

This week will be a twilight nine-hole competition on Friday from 2.30pm.

The composite holes will be holes one, nine, 15, 16, 17, 18, 10, 11 and 7.

Saturday will be an all day stableford and Sunday an 18-hole stableford from 10.30am.
