Students across the campus put on their gloves and got to work in a bid to keep their school and local community clean.

The day took place on Friday, February 27 – the designated Schools Clean Up Australia Day.

Terang College principal Kath Tanner said the day served as an important opportunity for environmental education while also encouraging students to take reasonability.

“This is the second year that we have participated in the Clean Up Australia Day event,” she said.

“All students from Foundation to Year 12 work in groups to pick up rubbish – they were able to clean up around our college but also the Recreation Reserve and Lions walking track.

“Our messaging to students is about how we are all part of a wider community, a global community, and it is our responsibility to look after the land we are on – this is also part of why we focus on more than just the college grounds.

“Students heard about the impact of rubbish on flora and fauna and we acknowledge the responsibility of caring for our wetlands precinct.”

Participants received a certificate recognising their efforts to keeping Terang neat and tidy.
