Lisa recognised with prestigious award

Recognition: Lisa Arndell from Cobden Golf Club was honoured to receive the Mike Kelly award at the Mercury Group annual general meeting.

People were nominated from all across Victoria, with Mrs Arndell taking home the award in recognition of her dedication in improving the club.

“I knew I was nominated for it but I didn’t think I would win it – there were a lot of other people that were nominated as well,” she said.

“They put up on the screen the top five that made it in and I was there.

“I was very overwhelmed and I shed a few tears.

“It’s not something that I thought would ever happen for me.”

The award is presented in honour of Mike Kelly, who worked for the Mercury Group and passed away from cancer.

“He was a big person at Mercury, a very lovely man, and I got to work under him at the golf club,” Mrs Arndell said.

“They wanted to do an award in honour of him.

“In the award I also won a trip to Sydney next year in August to their gaming expo.”

Mrs Arndell said she was honoured to receive the award, which took her by surprise.

“I thought I was just doing my job and its nice to be recognised,” she said.

“Since we’ve had the renovations the golf club has picked up a lot.

“I’ve taken on doing rosters and stocktake and more of a manager’s role.”

Mrs Arndell extended her thanks for all the support she has received.

“I would like to extended my sincere gratitude being nominated – the support is truly appreciated,” she said.

“To my colleagues, this achievement would not have been possible without our collective hard work and dedication to excellence at the Golfy.

“I thank the committee for their confidence in me, enabling me to contribute to the growth of this club.

“To my family, my greatest supporters, thank you for your unwavering encouragement and understanding when work extends beyond the workplace.

“Lastly, I appreciate our members and customers, whose patronage makes my role truly fulfilling.”
