Lucky resident takes home big win
A LUCKY shopper has taken home the grand prize of Mercy Regional College (MRC)’s 50th annual Car Raffle.

The raffle was drawn in conjunction with the school’s end-of-year Awards Mass, with the list of ten winners announced during proceedings.
Ivy Darcy was named the winner of the grand prize, a MG ZS Excite, saying she was surprised and excited to win.
“Thank you so much, I can’t believe it – this is the best thing that has ever happened to me,” she said.
“It's so exciting and has helped me so much as I now don’t need to keep saving to buy a car.
“I can't really fathom how amazing it is.
“Thank you to Mercy Regional College, Callaghan Motors and my grandma Julie for buying the ticket for me.”
MRC business manager Jude Murfitt said the car raffle draw was always a highlight of the school year.
“Congratulations to Ivy and our nine other lucky winners – I am very excited for you all,” she said.
“Fifty years of fundraising is a remarkable achievement and we couldn’t have done it without the generous support of our local community and sponsors.
“Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket, contributed to one of our ten amazing prizes or helped with the raffle organisation.
“Funds raised will go towards our new outdoor learning space at the McAuley campus in Camperdown.
“As we celebrate this year’s winners, we are putting out the call for anyone who might know who won the 1976 and 1977 car raffle, as our list is missing these two years.”
Anyone with information on the two lost years can contact MRC on 5593 2011.
The raffle was announced at the final assembly, which also included the presentation of gifts to St Vincent de Paul.
