Making it purple
STUDENTS at Camperdown College’s junior campus wore purple to raise funds and awareness for epilepsy last week.
The fundraiser was part of the school’s annual Purple Day fundraiser, which raises money for Epilepsy Action Australia.
Students Logan Hedrick and Emily Menzies said the day was a “resounding success”.
“We sold lollies and badges to raise funds for Epilepsy Action Australia,” they said.
“Our 122 lolly bags disappeared in just seven minutes which contributed to the $461 that was raised by students in Prep-Year Six.
“JSC (Junior School Council) hosts Purple Day to raise funds for epilepsy research.
“Thanks to all who participated, donated and wore purple – your support makes a real difference and we can’t wait to do it all again next year.”
Purple Day is a global initative which helps to support people with epilepsy, a neurological disorder that affects about 0.6 per cent of Australians (2017-2018 data) and led to over 31,400 hospitalisations in 2018-2019.
