MPs to host Colac forum

ONE of Victoria’s most influential political communicators will visit Colac this month to share the secrets behind building one of the state’s largest online audiences.

Member for Polwarth Richard Riordan MP will host Member for Warrandyte Nicole Werner MP for a special dinner forum on Thursday, July 23.

The forum will examine how elected representatives can use social media to better engage, inform and advocate for the communities they represent.

With more than 150,000 followers and an incredible 64 million video views over the past year, Ms Werner has established the broadest social media reach of any Victorian state parliamentarian, building a strong political message through authentic, direct communication.

Mr Riordan said the forum comes at a pivotal time as Victoria prepares for the November state election.

“Social media has fundamentally changed the way communities expect to hear from their elected representatives,” Mr Riordan said.

Mr Riordan said the evening would provide valuable insights for current and aspiring elected representatives, campaign volunteers, community leaders and anyone interested in modern political communication.

“People want authenticity, accessibility and regular communication,” he said.

Nicole has shown that when you genuinely engage with people and communicate consistently, you can build trust and ensure important local issues reach a much wider audience.”

The evening will include a presentation by Ms Werner followed by an interactive discussion with Richard Riordan and audience questions, exploring practical strategies for building meaningful community engagement in the digital age.
