Philip named MBA life member
A CAMPERDOWN builder has been recognised as an honorary life member of the Master Builders Association of Victoria (MBV) at a recent gala dinner.

Philip Robinson has been active with the MBV for 53 years – just over one third of their 150-year history.
The gala dinner was held last Friday night, where hundreds of people turned out to meet with others in the building and construction industry.
Established in 1875, MBV aims to be a voice for the building and construction industry, servicing needs including residential, commercial and engineering businesses to principal contractors, subcontractors, tradies and suppliers.
Mr Robinson said the gala dinner, which was held at the Melbourne Showgrounds, provided a way for members to look back on the history of the association.
“Like most associations, it provides an opportunity for members to come together and discuss common interests and issues they might have,” he said.
“It also helped to advance the industry at the same time.
“My involvement started with the western section of the organisation – they divided the state up into seven groups, and Camperdown through to Portland was the western section.
“I’ve moved around all those towns over the years and spoken to many of the members as part of the reporting of what goes on in the larger scene.”
Mr Robinson was presented with his honorary life membership by MBV president Geoff Purcell, which he has since proudly hung in his office.
He said he was humbled to receive the award.
“It’s a great reward for many years of activity promoting the industry overall,” he said.
“I enjoyed the opportunity to get presented with the award and catch up with many of the people in the room I’ve met over the years.”
