Police are watching this weekend
CAMPERDOWN Police will be among a number of units out in force for a road policing operation starting tomorrow (Saturday, August 30).
The operation will be focusing on driver related offending including speed, dangerous driving, unlicenced and distracted drivers with assistance from nearby Highway Patrol units.
Camperdown Police Acting Senior Sergeant Stuart Revell said police will also be equipped with alcohol and drug testing devices to ensure roads are safe but also holding drivers who are substance–affected to account.
“Victoria as a whole has had an increase in lives lost on our roads compared to last year,” he said.
“We understand that any life lost is one too many and we want to commit to a positive change in driver behaviour to help reduce our road toll.
“We are coming into a period of local sporting finals which means more people on our roads and celebrations to be had.
“The community are urged to plan ahead by using public transport or organising a designated driver.”
