Policy pitch to end funding disparity
THE Coalition has unveiled a new commitment which will see at least a quarter of all new infrastructure spending flowing to regional Victoria.
The announcement was made over the weekend, with Member for South West Coast Roma Britnell saying regional communities had continually missed out on the infrastructure investment they deserve.
A future Wilson Liberal/National Government will make changes through a new 25 per cent Fair Share Guarantee, ensuring regional Victoria receives 25 per cent of all new Victorian Government infrastructure spending.
The commitment will deliver much-needed investment into regional roads, hospitals, schools, emergency services, mental health facilities and community infrastructure across the South West Coast.
“People across the South West Coast have had enough of Labor ignoring regional Victoria,” Ms Britnell said.
“Our communities are dealing with tired infrastructure, ageing sporting precincts, stretched hospitals and roads that have been neglected for years.
“Families in regional communities deserve the same level of investment and opportunity as those in Melbourne.”

Ms Britnell said the policy would help address issues including the upgrading of local roads, hospital upgrades and the essential community services which residents rely on every day.
She said the Fair Share Guarantee was designed to ensure regional Victoria is no longer treated as an afterthought when it comes to government funding decisions.
Regional communities across the South West Coast have increasingly voiced frustration at being left behind while infrastructure investment continues to favour metropolitan Melbourne.
“It’s the responsibility of government to deliver for regional communities, whether it’s sporting precincts, hospitals, roads or the essential services people rely on every day,” Ms Britnell said.
“Across the South West Coast, people are angry because they’ve been left behind by Labor for too long.
“This policy is about making sure regional communities finally get their fair share.”
