Residents to Spring into Summer
CAMPERDOWN and District Community House will be hosting a mini-festival to mark the changing from spring to summer at the end of the month.
The Spring into Summer mini-festival will see Camperdown’s Apex Park (293 Manifold Street) come alive with activity, with a focus on community spirit and sustainability.
Community House coordinator Emily Mercer said the park would be filled with a variety of activities and entertainment, including face painting from 10am-1pm and live music from the Twa Bards from 11am-12noon and 1-2pm.
“There will be a small market of local produce, locally made goods including second-hand records (vinyl), jewellery, plants, crochet crafts and more,” she said.
“Drakes Fresh Produce is a feature vendor on the day, so you will be able to stock up on amazing fresh locally grown veggies as well as finding treasures for Christmas presents from our other market vendors.
“You will be able to eat and drink your fill with Camperdown Rotary Club running their famous barbecue fundraiser, and we have a number of food vendors, including Camperdown’s own Bean Crazy Coffee Bus, Twisttos Warrnambool, OMG Doughnuts and Jet’s Dumplings.
“There will be a Clothing Swap stall, you can bring along your good quality clothing to swap, and our amazing Swap and Share community will be bringing along home grown produce and garden fare to share as well.
“Apex Park is such a wonderful space and we can’t wait to share this event with you there.”
The event will feature the Nature Bus, which will be running a free nature craft session from 10am-2pm, as well as a free Community House-led craft session to make butterflies with recycled paper running from 10.30-11.30am and 12.30-1.30pm.
Innerbloom will also run an activity on the day, with a mini greenhouse craft session running throughout the day for a gold coin donation.
The Community Garden will fill with knowledge as four speakers will talk gardening over the course of the day.
Speakers include A Place of Wonder’s Kylie Treble speaking on growing soil, vegetables and community (10-11 am), Wannon Water’s David Brennan talking about wicking beds (11am-12noon), Innerbloom Gardening Therapy’s Kim Cragg giving a tour of the community garden (12.30-1pm) and Harmonious Horticulture’s Warren Clementson talking about soil health and science (1.30-2pm).
The mini festival will run from 10am-2pm on Sunday, November 30 and is supported by the Corangamite Shire Events and Festivals Grant program.
