Service recognised

DERRINALLUM’S Country Fire Authority (CFA) brigade recently recognised the dedication of 13 members at an awards night.

The awards were presented last Wednesday, adding to a total of 405 years’ service to the CFA.

Derrinallum CFA secretary Jayde Neil said two members of the brigade received special recognition on the night.

“Laweton French was awarded his 75 years of service medal,” she said.

“Laweton joined the Derrinallum fire brigade in 1950 and took on various roles throughout his time in the CFA.

“Laweton was captain of the Derrinallum fire brigade from 1984-2000.

“Special mention to CFA member Colin Crebbin who will be placed on the honour board in the Derrinallum station for his 40 years of service and continued dedication and commitment to our community.”

Chris Lang received a service award to recognise his 60 years of service to the CFA.

Two members were awarded 40-year service awards alongside Colin Crebbin’s listing on the honour board, with awards presented to Stephen Bignell and Jim Pearce.

An award for 25 years’ service to the CFA was presented to Aaron Henderson, while Andrew Uren received a 30 years’ service award.

Two CFA members were awarded 20-year service awards – Kym Gordon and David Mulraney.

Angela Bignell received an award for 15 years of service.

Lachlan Bignell, Mrs Neil, John Stewart and Grayson Tanner all received awards for 10 years of service to the CFA.
