Simpson achieves NAPLAN excellence
SIMPSON Primary School has celebrated a successful year of NAPLAN results, with students in Year three and five outperforming the state average in all categories.
When comparing to previous results, Year five students achieved exemplary results across the board, with 100 per cent achieving high growth in reading, writing, spelling, numeracy and grammar and punctuation.
This is compared to a state average of 74 per cent in reading, 72 per cent in writing, 68 per cent in spelling, 69 per cent in numeracy and 64 per cent in grammar and punctuation.
Year three students also achieved impressive results, especially in writing, reading and numeracy, achieving 100 per cent, 83 percent and 83 per cent respectively.
Simpson Primary School students also performed well when compared to similar schools in both Year three and five – with reading at 68 per cent, writing at 61 per cent and numeracy at 64 per cent for Year five students in similar schools.
For Year three in similar schools, the numbers came in at 58 per cent for reading, 73 per cent for writing and 60 per cent for numeracy.
With 100 per cent of students participating in NAPLAN this year, principal Melissa Berry said she wanted to highlight the great work being done at Simpson Primary School.
“We’re absolutely blown away with the result,” she said.
“It shows that as much as we’re a small school we have amazing programs.
“We have such amazing teachers and education support staff running these programs and we’re so lucky to have them.”
