correctly at the coin toss and elected to bat, making 9/212 from their 50 overs.

Left arm seamer Jake Robbins was the pick of the Storm bowlers, with 4/28 from eight overs.

“Jake played a bit of a different role bowling at the death of the innings,” Storm captain Matthew Love said.

“He bowled full and straight, bowled plenty of dot balls and got rewarded.”

Love was happy with restricting Birregurra to 212.

“The outfield was lush, later in the season that would have been worth 250, we were happy enough keeping them to that score, we felt around 200 was par.”

Simon Harkness led the way in the run chase, making an unbeaten 81 from 105 balls as the Storm passed the Saints score in the 48th over for the loss of six wickets.

Harkness’ innings included eight fours and a six.

Opener Hamish Huffadine smashed 48 from 37 balls, with five fours and three sixes, Travis Brown made 42 from 60 balls with Paul Vogels finishing 24 not out.

“Hamish was great, I was happy to watch him at the other end, he hit the ball very cleanly.

“Harko (Harkness) carried us through well, sometimes those runs at the end are the hardest to get but he navigated our chase well.”

On Saturday the Storm has the bye, with the team’s next game on November 15 at Apollo Bay.
