Terang table tennis underway
THE Terang Table Tennis Association’s 2025 season commenced with the same number of teams as last year.
The association welcomes anyone interested in being available as a fill in player or to share a spot as a number three, potentially playing every second week.
Saints and Timo Mania were both missing their number three players and, as a result, played as two person teams.
The association welcomed back Trevor McDowell who will challenge for the number one ranking.
His side, Saints, proved too strong for the Callum McSween-led side Timo Mania 4-1.
The match between Trevor and Callum saw Trevor winning in four games 12-10, 4-11, 11-3, 14-12.
The doubles match went to five games with Trevor and Michael Pearson getting across the line winning the fifth game 17-15.
Michael also provided a singles win for the Saints.
TIC, last season’s premiers, were able to remain together in the seedings of players and started the season off with an 8-3 win over I Don’t Care.
The standout player was Tyler Smith, who for the second time defeated dad Mark in straight games.
He also won all his singles and a doubles.
Ian Rochfort started the season well winning two singles which included a first time win against Pat Nicholson as well as combining to win a doubles.
The bye side has Tony Young, Vesha Chapagai and Billy Baxter playing together.
