Tough final round for Tigers

SIMPSON’S senior footballers ended their 2025 season with a 118-point loss to Lorne at Lorne’s Stribling Reserve.


A 10 goal to two first quarter by the home team set the tone for a tough afternoon for the visitors.

Lorne ended up running out 24.14.158 to 6.4.40 winners.

Tom Leishman, Brenton De Jong, Gus Hawkes, Brad Salmon, Ryleigh McVilly and Darcy Leishman were best for Simpson in the loss.

Jono Jennings was the Tigers’ only multiple goalkicker with two.

Simpson finished the season in eighth place with four wins and 14 losses.

In the reserves, Lorne scored a 102-point win, 19.8.122 to 3.2.20.

Geordie Ferrari, David Weel and Simon Martensen were Simpson’s best in the loss, with Jamie Barry, Shaun Guy and Jayden McVilly kicking a goal each.

Simpson finished in ninth place with three wins and 15 losses.

In the under 18s, Lorne had a huge 25.25.175 to no score win.

Louis Janssen, Nate Sambell and Blake Ferrari were Simpson’s best in the loss.

The under 18 Tigers finished in eighth place with one win and 15 losses.

In the under 15 football, Simpson had a strong 13.9.87 to 2.3.15 victory.

Ben Vogels, Jyda Randle and Xander Weel were best for the Tigers.

Simpson finished seventh in the under 15 competition with six wins and 12 losses.

The under 12 game saw Simpson have a 11.15.81 to 1.0.6 win.

Simpson ended up ninth on the ladder with two wins and 16 losses.

In the A grade netball, Lorne scored a 72-38 win.

MilahCrole, Emily Duynhoven and Shelby Cameron were Simpson’s best, with Eliza Duynhoven scoring 24 goals and Jessie Harding 14.

The A grade Tigers ended up seventh on the ladder with six wins and 12 losses.

Simpson got the points in the B grade netball with a 39-36 win.

Best for Simpson were Tyra Sambell, Melissa Drayton and Carol Arndell, with Drayton scoring 26 goals and Brianna Gass 13.

The B grade Tigers finished eighth with four wins, 13 losses and a draw.

Simpson had a 59-24 win in the C grade game.

Best for the Tigers were Rachael Duynhoven, Kara Tyrer and Harriette O’Hanlon, with Duynhoven scoring 33 goals and Kayla Hallyburton 18.

Simpson finished fourth in C grade and will play Irrewarra-Beeac in this Sunday’s elimination final.

In D grade, Lorne had a 34-25 win.

Best for the Tigers were Olivia Rhode, Leesa Seabrook and Sharni Ward, with Brianna Ferrari shooting 11 goals.

Simpson finished sixth in D grade with eight wins and eight losses.

The 17 and under match saw Simpson have a strong 29-22 win.

Shayla Daniels, Olivia Rhode and Gabby Montano were Simpson’s best in the win, with Daniels shooting 12 goals.

The under 17 Tigers ended up seventh on the ladder with five wins and 13 losses.

Lorne scored a 37-36 win in the 15 and under netball.

Tara Robertson, MilahCrole and Anna Robb were best for Simpson, with Kustom Robertson scoring 26 goals and Keisha McVilly 10.

The under 15 Tigers finished fifth on the ladder and will play Colac Imperials in Sunday’s elimination final.

Lorne got the points in the 13 and under game with a 46-11 win.

Ayla Crole, Nyha Ford and Charlotte Phillips were Simpson’s best, with Ford scoring seven goals.

The under 13 Tigers finished 10th on the ladder with one win and 17 losses.
