Tough round for Tigers
SIMPSON had a 130-run loss in its round six Colac-South West premier cricket match at Colac’s CMTP Oval on Saturday.
The home team batted first, making 264 from its 50 overs.
Skipper Jackson Rock was the best of Simpson bowlers, again tight with 2/23 from 10 overs.
Nick Harding and Chathura Wadu also took two wickets each.
In reply, the Tigers were all out in the 42nd over for 134.
Tanner Fratantaro continued his solid form with 31 from 92 balls, with Rock making 27 from 31 balls.
This week Simpson play Camperdown at SA Wright Oval.
On Sunday the Tigers started their Twenty20 campaign with matches against Apollo Bay and Irrewarra, losing both games.
In game one against Irrewarra, Simpson batted first, making 8/84 from its 20 overs.
Hunter Reynolds top scored with 19 from 30 balls, with Nick Harding making 18 from 20.
Irrewarra passed Simpson’s score in the 14th over for the loss of three wickets.
Tanner Fratantaro took all three wickets, finishing with 3/22 from 2.1 overs.
In the second game, Apollo Bay batted first, making 6/144 from 20 overs.
Thomas Weel, with 3/21, and Rock with 2/20 were the best of the Tigers’ bowlers in their four over spells.
In reply Simpson was all out in the 16th over for just 77, Jono Jennings top scoring with 30 from 18 balls.
In division two, Simpson had a five wicket loss to West Warrion at Warrion.
The home team batted first, making 9/226.
Shaun Baines was the best of the bowlers with 4/27 from eight overs, with Shae De Francesco taking two wickets.
In reply, Simpson was all out in the 34th over for 140.
Bodhi Crole top scored with 37 not out from 26 balls, with opener Bailey Vines making 26.
In the division three game at Simpson, the Tigers lost to Irrewarra.
Batting first, Simpson was dismissed for 67, with Adrian Fratantaro top scoring with a patient 20 not out from 60 balls.
Irrewarra replied with 9/85, passing the score seven wickets down.
In the under 14s on Friday night, Simpson scored a big win over Stoneyford at Pirron Yallock.
The visitors batted first and were restricted to 5/50 from their 30 overs.
Simpson replied with 7/159, Cooper Beecher top scoring with 34, with Archer Crole making 27 and Fin Mahoney 24.
This week sees Simpson’s division two play Birregurra at Birregurra, the division three Tigers host City United at Simpson while in the under 14s Simpson play Irrewarra Black at Simpson.
In the women’s game at Pomborneit on Sunday, Simpson had its first loss of the season, going down to Pomborneit Gold by 54 runs.
Gold batted first, making 7/129 from their 25 overs.
Shae De Francesco, Millicent Saunders and Esha Crole all took two wickets each.
In reply, Simpson managed 8/75 while batting out their overs.
Shae De Francesco top scored with 18 from 32 balls, with Bianca Robinson finishing unbeaten on 15 from 31.
This week the Simpson women host Tomahawk Creek at Simpson.
