Batting first at the SA Wright Oval, Camperdown was dismissed for 140, its lowest score of the season.

Captain Steve Fisher top scored with 35 from 55 balls, with Adam Courtney making 24, James O'Neil 22 and Jye McLaughlin 20.

“It was our first bad score of the season,” Fisher said.

“We played some poor cricket shots and lost wickets in clumps.”

But the Lakers felt they were still right in the game.

“We spoke at the break about having to bowl well and putting some early pressure on them.”

Opening bowlers James O’Neil and Nick Frith made the early inroads to put Camperdown on top.

“Nick got those early breakthroughs which put them on the back foot.

“Jimmy has bowled well all year, it was great to see him get rewarded on Saturday.”

Frith took 4/41 from 10 overs, with O’Neil taking 3/35 from 10.

Noah Riches took the last three wickets, finishing with 3/9 from 6.4.

“Noah has been hitting a good length all year, he’s hard to score off.”

Fisher said the team was elated to get its first win of the season.

“We were pretty excited, the group has been putting in a lot of hard work, it was great to see that get rewarded.”

This week the Lakers play Ecklin in a match that has been transferred from Ecklin to SA Wright Oval.

In division three, Camperdown had a 97 run win over Boorcan at Boorcan.

The win was also the division three Lakers first for the season.

Batting first, the Lakers made 2/190 from their 40 overs.

Darren Payne made 57 from 87 balls, with fellow opener Darren Frith scoring 46 from 100.

Skipper Daniel Missen was 30 not out in the strong batting performance.

In reply Boorcan was bowled out for 93 in the 39th over.

Maddison Fisher took 3/14 from eight overs with the new ball, with Brady Bernoth taking 4/16 from eight overs.

In this week’s division three game, Camperdown will host Pomborneit Maroon at Camperdown number two.
